Evoking the Spirit of Clara Schumann

Robert Schumann's widow Clara Schumann gave her last concerts in the Budapest-based Pesti Vigadó in December 1868.

At the 150th anniversary of this concert series, pianist Gábor Farkas conjures up Clara Schumann's memory.

To commemorate this anniversary and to recall one of Clara Schumann's contemporary concerts, Gábor Farkas performs the following musical compositions in the scope of this concert:

1. Beethoven: Moonlight Sonata in C-sharp Minor, Op. 27

2. Brahms: Liebestreu (Fidelity in Love), Op. 3/1

                  Liebe und Frühling (Love and Spring), Op. 3/3

3. D. Scarlatti: Sonata in G-minor, Allegrissimo K. 450

4: Händel: Sarabande from Suite in G-minor

                  Chaconne in G-major (arrangement by Eugen d'Albert)

5. Schumann: Symphonic Etudes, Op. 13

6. Schumann: Dein Angesicht (Thy Lovely Face), Op. 127/2

                       Er ist's

7. Chopin: Andante spianato

8. Schumann and Liszt: Widmung (in A-flat major)

At the contemporary concert in 1868, Otília Ebner (name at birth: Otília Hauer) performed songs by Brahms and Schumann. At this concert, these vocal works will be sung by Andrea Csereklyei.
