Laszlo Lajtha Memorial Conference, Exhibition and Concert

In commemoration of the 125th anniversary of the birth of composer and folk music researcher László Lajtha

Composer, folk music researcher, music teacher and corresponding member of the French Academy of Fine Arts László Lajtha was born 125 years ago in 1892. He was a contemporary of both Béla Bartók and Zoltán Kodály and he had a career very much resembling that of these great Hungarian composers. Yet, his career was absolutely unique and fully independent of these older Hungarian celebrities. By organising a one-day-long conference as well as an exhibition and a concert, the Section of Art Theory of the Hungarian Academy of Arts wishes to commemorate internationally renowned 20th c. composer and researcher of Hungarian music history László Lajtha. Lectures at the event include talks given by Melinda Berlász, Emőke Solymosi Tari, Viktória Ozsvárt, Ákos Windhager, Ferenc Sebő, Krisztina Pálóczy, Anikó Fehér and András Szekfü. The evening concert features Szilvia Vörös, Zsófia Bíró, Anastasia Razvalyaeva, Tamás Zétényi and other musicians, who will pay music composed by László Lajtha and by French composers with a profound effect on him.

Entry is free, but signing up is required.
