Symphonic Lute

Concert by Omar Bashir

Omar Bashir was born in Budapest in 1970. His mother is Hungarian, his father is the renowned Iraqi oud player and king of Arab lute Munir Bashir, and his uncle was the great master of oud Jamil Basilis.

Bashir’s concert entitled Symphonic Lute mixes and merges Latin, Arab and flamenco music with classical music in a novel instrumentation. With accompaniment by a string orchestra, this concert features earlier compositions by Bashir and his father in a new instrumentation. This world premiere of Symphonic Lute is also a trailer of Bashir’s 25th record, which will be released next year.
