A selection from paintings by János Aknay, István ef Zámbó and Csaba Tábori

The painters created their artworks by developing 21 Biblical themes. As a result of this special commission, János Aknay painted 12 works, István ef Zámbó created 17 paintings, whereas Csaba Tábori prepared 21 paintings. An important goal of the project was that, after the paintings were created, the general public was to be able to view these works in smaller or bigger Hungarian towns and settlements.

For this reason, a series of exhibitions was organised in Hungary’s 18 county seats and in 5 of Budapest’s districts. This initiative was made complete by a children’s drawing contest. There were 8,000 entries to the contest and a jury examined all the works.

The nationwide series of events will be concluded by an exhibition hosted by the Budapest-based Pesti Vigadó. This exhibition will open on 22nd March 2018 and it will also showcase children’s award-winning works originating from diverse Hungarian regions.

At the opening, art historian Ernő P. Szabó is introducing a special edition containing and describing artworks by the above painters.
