International Felt Art Exhibition - 40th Anniversary - Revival of an ancient craft

This exhibition is organised on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the rediscovery of felting art. The exhibition displays wall carpets, art objects, pieces of clothing, accessories and toys, all made from felt. The showcasing aims to offer an insight into the various artistic forms associated with felt and felting art. The exhibition also shows how this age-old craft has transformed up until the 21st century. The artists whose works are on display at this showcasing are all distinguished experts in their fields, who – through renewing their craft but also following well-established traditions – have created modern artefacts of folk art and applied arts. The central piece of the exhibition is a felt installation initiated by the organisers: this installation contains forty felt flags jointly composed by the exhibiting artists. This installation symbolises the 40-year-old cooperation between felt making artists all around the world.

Exhibitors include:

17 exhibitors from the following countries: Germany, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, USA and Japan.

33 Hungarian and minority Hungarian artists from Hungary, Transylvania and Vojvodina.
