Hungarian Radio Symphonic Orchestra
In the 1960s and 1970s, Frigyes Hidas was professionally closely connected to the Hungarian Radio Symphonic Orchestra. He conducted the world premiere of 17 compositions by former principal conductor of the Orchestra György Lehel. Some of these pieces were concertos including the Bassoon Concerto, Violin Concertino and Trombone Concerto. This concert presents the world premiere of one of Frigyes Hidas’ last compositions: the orchestra version of his concerto for clarinet. The second part of the evening features László Lajtha’s surprisingly joyful Symphony No. 6, which – as a music analyst concludes – may easily bear the subtitle “Summer”.
