The concert is dedicated to the memory of Zsófia Tallér
Concert by Budafoki Dohnányi Ernő Symphony Orchestra
This memorial concert pays tribute to exceptionally talented Hungarian music composer Zsófia Tallér, who died young after a long period of illness. Her oratorio entitled Kilépés a fénybe [Gone to the Light] was composed for All Souls’ Day, and the composer originally dedicated the piece to the memory of her parents. The composition is in fact the musicalisation of the Egyptian Book of the Dead, which was translated and edited by the composer herself. This grand and mysterious theme will truly captivate listeners.
After the Book of the Dead, the second half of the concert will guide the audience to the light. In music history Mozart’s Symphony No. 41 “Jupiter” represents taking control over the impossible. In light of this, it is no wonder that Wagner nicknamed Mozart “Der Licht- und Liebesgenius”, i.e. the Genius of Light and Love. Mozart’s Jupiter Symphony is nothing but splendour with its luxurious music that captivates the audience. This piece is made complete by a grandiose fugue featured at the end of the composition.
