June 2025 – Artwork of the Month

The Artwork of the Month for June is László József Molnár's piece titled Painting IV, which is featured in the retrospective exhibition titled 50 Years.

László József Molnár is a graphic artist, who started painting in the last few years. So much so that the first days of the exhibition the painting chosen as the artwork of the month was still drying. If you look closely at the painting, you can still see traces of moisture in some places.

The work is entitled "Lyrical", Painting IV. It depicts a random, yet aesthetically pleasing assortment of objects washed ashore by the sea like rubbish. Meticulously painted, the painting depicts shells, seaweed, wood shards and debris in incredible detail. The composition appears to be contingent, with elements that are out of the plane of the image, and photorealism is not only a technique but also an attitude to composition.

The painting gives a sense of duality, on the one hand the long hours of painting with a brush, consisting of detailed elements, and on the other hand the light, random subject matter, as when a photographer quickly exposes.

The exhibition can be viewed in the exhibition space on the 5th floor, daily from 10am to 7pm.

Open until 22 June 2025.
