Concert by the Choir of the Hungarian National Radio 3
How would Bartók, Kodály or György Ligeti have thought about and interpreted folk music if they had been able to work together with musicians playing not exclusively traditional music but also music for contemporary artistic self-expression? Just like Balázs Szokolay Dongó (folk wind instruments) and Mátyás Bolya (plucked stringed folk instruments) do, who together form Rohoncz Music Manufactory. Rather than demonstrating how a folk song can be turned into a choir piece, this time the musicians will show how today’s folk musicians react to choir music and what inspiration such music can provide them. The artists will also tackle the question whether compositions by Bartók or Ligeti can constitute part of a joint improvised musical piece.
