Marcell Szabó was a student of György Nádor and András Kemenes at the Liszt Academy, where he received his diploma in 2012. An awardee of the Junior Prima Prize and the Fischer Annie Scholarship, the artist took part at international competitions with great success: in 2014, he won the first prize of the International Béla Bartók Piano Competition in Szeged, along with the contemporary music prize and the orchestra’s special prize; the third prize at the International Delia Steinberg Piano Competition in Madrid; and the first prize and the special prize at the Île-de-France International Piano Competition.
In 2018 he launched the Russian Music Festival, of which he is artistic director. In 2019 he was awarded the Talent Prize of the Cziffra Festival. In recent years he has given concerts at such venues as the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, the Vienna Konzerthaus, Birmingham’s Town Hall, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, and the Musikfestspiele in Dresden.
