Celebratory concert by the Institute of Music of the University of Pécs’ Faculty of Music and Visual Arts

The creation of the Faculty of Music and Visual Arts was facilitated by rich cultural life in the town of Pécs as well as by the musicians and fine artists living and creating in Pécs. In 1996, the Faculty was formed from legal predecessor institutions’ diverse departments of music and arts. In commemoration of this anniversary, the teaching staff and students of the Institute of Music of the University of Pécs’ Faculty of Music and Visual Arts are giving a celebratory concert.

At the concert, the teaching staff of the Institute will play Händel’s Organ Concerto in B Flat Major on four guitars, with the bassoon also assuming a solo role. In addition, the repertoire of the brass wind instruments will also be heard, and the first part of the celebratory concert will end with some jazz music. In the second part of the concert, the choirs of the Institute will take the stage. Afterwards, accompanied by the University of Pécs Orchestra and some excellent soloists, the choirs will present the world premiere of the Credo movement of Zoltán Kovács’ Missa Pannonica.

Organiser: Institute of Music of the University of Pécs’ Faculty of Music and Visual Arts, Potenton Foundation
