Bartók and Járdányi2016. October 11.
In commemoration of the 135th anniversary of Béla Bartók's birth and the 50th anniversary of Pál Járdányi's death, a conference and a memorial evening were organised by the Research Institute of Art Theory and Methodology of the Hungarian Academy of Arts.
The scholars attending the two-day-long scientific event analysed the life work of the two composers, the features of their music and the effects of their artwork on related arts. The topic of Bartók's withdrawal to his ivory tower and the role assumed by Járdányi in the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 were also touched upon, thus bringing the personality of these two composers closer to the audience and to the general public. The scholarly event was concluded by a memorial evening featuring music by Bartók and Járdányi.
