Exhibition by Sculptor József Palotás

Sculptor József Palotás has been an active participant of Hungarian contemporary art since 1972, and has extensively created in all fields of sculptural arts.

By way of exhibiting his small plastics, middle-sized statues, his busts and coins to the general public, he regularly features at showcasings, and – in addition to this – several monumental works of his have been erected throughout Hungary. This exhibition presents the artist’s work, which extends over four decades, in the form of displaying a cross-cutting of his works, featuring artworks from both public and private collections. The showcasing presents wooden, cast iron and bronze small plastics, middle-sized statues and large-size plastics: the ‘transcriptions’ of mythical and human figures; crouching, sitting and lying figures displayed in a realistic perspective; and several series of coins and plaquettes exhibiting both unusual forms and unexpected use of materials. Apart from the above-mentioned plastics, the exhibition also features wood panels depicting scenic visions, which artworks represent the artist’s latest creative period.
