In the scope of this exhibition, Pesti Vigadó presents a selection from the artworks entered for the 21st Graphic Design Biennial: the Biennial showcases applied graphic design pieces created in the years 2017 and 2018, and reviews the latest achievements in Hungarian visual communication. In fact, the 21st Graphic Design Biennial offers a comprehensive picture of the current state of this genre as far as its position in Hungarian communication design and function-oriented visual arts is concerned. The arrangement of the exhibition and the selection of artworks featured at this showcasing embody and accomplish a consistent and all-pervading tenet: with the help of this artistic principle, displaying artists are capable of intensively impacting viewers’ sensory perception through the expressive and suggestive imagerial reduction of intellectual concepts.

Mária Olajos Csenge: Bauhaus100

Through a display of posters, the showcasing also pays homage to the historical traditions of graphic design: the exhibition features a thematic chamber exhibition entitled “Bauhaus 100”, which focuses on the pedagogical ideas and the artistic taste forming intellectual creed characterising this art school. Set within this thematic framework, the exhibition presents the first opportunity for the general public to behold Hungarian poster artists’ 2019 artworks.
