Sunshine, Heavenly Light

This second concert of Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra’s series entitled “Choir+” is a collaborative work with Purcell Choir: it presents a special programme that deserves the audience’s intense interest. First, a 21st century Hungarian piece will be performed: this work – thanks to its diverse cantata-like short movements – provides a backdrop of timelessness and eternity to St. Francis of Assisi’s “The Canticle of the Sun”. The second half of the concert begins with a rediscovered musical rarity, and continues with the transformation of sadness over final farewell pictured in Fauré’s famous “Requiem” to the uplifting feeling of longing for Heaven.

Programme:

Levente GYÖNGYÖSI: Cantici Fratris Sole (The Canticle of the Sun) – Oratorio in the wake of St. Francis of Assisi

Interval
