Complete vocal edition in commemoration of the 140th anniversary of Zoltán Kodály’s birth
“To create reverberations in the souls of millions”
The above motto and ambition functioned as the guiding principle for Honvéd Ensemble Male Choir to stage this event in remembrance of the 140th anniversary of Zoltán Kodály’s birth.
This celebratory concert features specialities dedicated to male choirs composed for works by Hungarian poets Ferenc Kölcsey, Endre Ady and Sándor Petőfi. In addition, the event also stages diverse and colourful works for folk song choirs. The concert radiates with patriotism, hymnic elevatedness and an energising revolutionary mood, which is spiced with folk spirit and cheerful bliss. The extreme dynamism, thematic versatility, seemingly limitless energy and caressing tenderness that characterise the event all go to demonstrate that Hungarian performers and Central Europe’s biggest professional male choir Honvéd Ensemble are truly credible performers of composer Zoltán Kodály’s works for male choir.
Honvéd Ensemble Male Choir is delighted to cultivate the above legacy, and is proud to recognise that composer Zoltán Kodály dedicated numerous of his works and adaptations to male choirs.
