Selections from operas and musicals, as well as popular tunes performed in a ball and dance party atmosphere

This truly entertaining concert presents the real nature of Honvéd Male Choir, which is characterised by an exceptionally wide repertoire. But what is the Ensemble’s true nature like? This true nature is different when it surfaces in each piece of music: the Ensemble’s true nature is hidden behind perfectly fitting costumes and masks. Honvéd Male Choir is credited as one of the first Hungarian representatives of mixing different musical genres in the framework of a unique musical form called crossover. In fact, even classical music can be performed using typical styles associated with lighter genres. What is more, even world famous pop, rock and musical hits can feature on the repertoire of this professional male choir while the sound of the Ensemble retains the vocal qualities characteristic of male choirs.

Their sister company, the Hungarian National Dance Ensemble, will also add colour to the show: they will surprise the audience with real dance delicacies: dances and genre specialities that are not part of their repertoire. In this programme, which presents and spans across musical genres of the past two centuries, the orchestra will perform arrangements of popular music, as well as operetta hits and opera choruses by Verdi and Gounod. The main focus will be on the soloists, who will move their audience and make them laugh as suited to the mood of a real ball and dance party.
