Whisper Nest by Ferenc Cakó
The Artwork of the Month for December is a painting with an unusual appearance. Ferenc Cakó's Whisper Nest is characterized by the artist's signature playfulness and humor.
The piece bears the title Whisper Nest, which perfectly suits the swirling, almost vortex-like mass of figures in the composition. Its unique feature is that it is mounted at the center of the back, allowing the canvas to be freely rotated. Each turn reveals new scenes, new faces, and new stories. The painting is filled with whispering, huddling figures passing on secrets and messages—like peering into an endless spiral of gossip. Thanks to its playful rotatability, the work has no true "top" or "bottom": from every direction, different humorous situations and characters appear. In this way, Whisper Nest is not just an image, but an experience—an ever-changing, viewer-shaped story that brings a new smile with each rotation.
The painting can be viewed until 15 January in the ground-floor exhibition hall of the Pesti Vigadó, as part of Ferenc Cakó's jubilee exhibition Dance of Life.
