House Regulations

The primary responsibility of Pesti Vigadó Nonprofit Ltd., the company responsible for the maintenance and operation of the listed monument property of the Pesti Vigadó, is the protection of the condition of the property, and its aim is to maintain and preserve for the public the cultural diversity and high artistic standards provided by the Pesti Vigadó.

For this purpose, the present House Rules define the rights and obligations of visitors to the Pesti Vigadó. Compliance with and enforcement of these provisions is both the right and obligation of all persons visiting or using the listed monument property.

1. Name of the property: Pesti Vigadó
Opening hours: every day of the week from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

2. The maintainer and operator of the property, on behalf of the owner, the Hungarian Academy of Arts, is Pesti Vigadó Nonprofit Ltd.
(Company registration no.: 01 09 191474; registered office: 1051 Budapest, Vigadó tér 2.)


3. Use of the Pesti Vigadó

3.1. Programs held at the Pesti Vigadó – with the exception of private events – may be visited by any interested person during official opening hours, who may use its cultural services, furnishings, equipment, and other facilities. Prior ticket purchase is a prerequisite for attending ticketed events. Pesti Vigadó Nonprofit Ltd. reserves the right to declare the building full if the number of visitors reaches the official capacity of the property, including any capacity limits imposed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

3.2. Only visitors wearing clean clothing appropriate to cultural and social norms may remain on the premises of the Pesti Vigadó. Entry is prohibited in attire deemed inappropriate for the building.

3.3. Guests arriving late to advertised events may take their seats only during the intermission.

3.4. The Pesti Vigadó is accessible to wheelchair users. Wheelchair users may purchase tickets for designated seats, and staff members of Pesti Vigadó Nonprofit Ltd. provide assistance with movement within the building and seating.

3.5. Information on data processing carried out through the CCTV surveillance system operated by Pesti Vigadó Nonprofit Ltd. is available on the company’s website under the data protection section.

3.6.
In public areas, only amateur photography for personal use is permitted, and only for visitors holding a valid admission ticket. In all other cases, prior written permission must be requested from Pesti Vigadó Nonprofit Ltd. at kommunikacio@vigado.hu Photography of family events, filming, or portfolio photography is not permitted even with a valid admission ticket.

3.7. Any form of image or audio recording at concerts, performances, or events is prohibited by any device (including mobile phones). Violation of this provision may result in consequences under copyright, neighboring rights, or data protection laws. If the visitor does not cease the unlawful behavior upon request by the hostess staff, the hostess staff, front-of-house duty staff, or security personnel may require the guest to leave the event hall and the Pesti Vigadó building. CD sales, autograph sessions, expressions of congratulations, joint photographs, and generally meetings between the audience and performers are not permitted during the period of the coronavirus pandemic.

3.8. Smoking and the use of psychoactive substances are STRICTLY PROHIBITED throughout the building. A designated smoking area is located on the Deák Ferenc Street side of the building.

3.9. With the exception of guide dogs, animals, weapons, stabbing or cutting tools, firearms or objects resembling firearms, as well as any objects or substances dangerous to life, physical integrity, or health, are prohibited within the premises of the Pesti Vigadó.

3.10. Food and beverages may not be brought into event halls, nor objects of a size that may disturb adjacent guests or block escape routes. For medical reasons, up to 0.5 liters of liquid may be brought in a bag, subject to prior notification of the competent staff of Pesti Vigadó Nonprofit Ltd.

3.11. It is strictly prohibited to bring in or store accident-prone or fire-hazardous items, or any other objects endangering the physical integrity, safety of visitors and staff, or the artworks and furnishings.

3.12. In the event of extraordinary circumstances (e.g. natural disasters, fire, demonstrations or other mass events, bomb threats, etc.), visitors are required to strictly follow the instructions of the staff of Pesti Vigadó Nonprofit Ltd. and behave in accordance with the evacuation plan of the building.

3.13. A medical room operates within the Pesti Vigadó building. Guests requiring immediate first aid will be escorted by hostesses to the medical room, where staff of Pesti Vigadó Nonprofit Ltd. will provide assistance until medical help arrives.

3.14. The protection of the listed monument property of the Pesti Vigadó is the responsibility of every visitor. All equipment in the building must be used properly, and damage to furnishings is prohibited. Pesti Vigadó Nonprofit Ltd. shall take the necessary measures to recover any damages caused.

3.15. Visitors and users of the property bring their valuables and belongings into the premises at their own responsibility. Pesti Vigadó Nonprofit Ltd. assumes no liability for safekeeping or for any damage to items brought into the building. Found items may be handed in at the security service of Pesti Vigadó Nonprofit Ltd., and lost items may also be inquired about there. Found items are stored for a maximum of three months in accordance with Section 5:59 (4) of the Hungarian Civil Code. Information regarding lost items may be requested at kozonsegszolgalat@vigado.hu

3.16. Intoxicated persons are not permitted to enter the Pesti Vigadó. Persons who become intoxicated during an event must leave the building upon request of the organizer.

3.17. Coats are PROHIBITED in event halls. Use of the cloakroom is mandatory. All bags, backpacks of any size, umbrellas, and handbags larger than 30×40×20 cm must be checked. Cloakroom staff provide custody of these items and issue uniquely manufactured cloakroom tags. Items may be retrieved only upon return of the tag. In case of loss, a replacement fee of 1,500 HUF per tag shall be borne by the guest.

3.18. In the case of school groups, adult supervision/presence is required within the Pesti Vigadó building. The group leader, accompanying teacher, or parent (as well as any external tour guide with special permission) bears full responsibility for ensuring that all members of the group comply with these House Rules.

Children under two years of age may only be brought into public areas in a stroller or a front-mounted carrier. Strollers may only be pushed and may not be carried even when folded. Carrying children of any age in arms, on the back, or around the neck is not permitted for safety reasons.

3.19. Foldable and hand-carried personal transport devices (e.g. bicycles, scooters) may be brought into the building but must be stored in the cloakroom. Charging such devices within the Pesti Vigadó building is PROHIBITED.

3.20. Hostess staff, event organizers, or security personnel may request any visitor who disturbs programs or their enjoyment through conversation or loud behavior to leave. The use of mobile phones or other disruptive devices during programs is not permitted. If the visitor does not cease such use upon request, staff may require the person to leave the event hall. Security staff are entitled, pursuant to Act CXXXIII of 2005 on personal and property protection and private investigation, to request identification, prohibit participation, require departure, or escort the person out if necessary for the protection of life and property. Staff may also initiate police action if required.

3.21. The Pesti Vigadó building and its events may be visited without mask-wearing and without immunity certificates or EU vaccination certificates. Use of hand sanitizer upon entry is mandatory. Anyone is entitled to wear a face mask, and mask use may not be prohibited.

3.22. Visitors are required to comply with the level of social interaction and basic hygiene standards required by the prevailing epidemiological situation during their visit.

3.23.
If any visitor sustains a personal injury, Pesti Vigadó Nonprofit Ltd. shall prepare a report for investigation and, if necessary, forward the case to its contracted insurance company.

3.24. Measures taken by employees of Pesti Vigadó Nonprofit Ltd. are binding on all guests and visitors.

3.25. Any visitor who violates the provisions of these House Rules may receive a warning from staff, and in certain cases official, legal, or other proceedings may be initiated. Visitors who do not agree with these House Rules may request a refund of their ticket at the ticket office prior to entry.
