Concert by flautist Zsófia Biró and her fellow musicians – with ballet
Pastorale Series 2026
Zsófia Biró delights the audience with a rarely heard program, featuring brilliant works by lesser-known French masters such as Devienne, Chaminade, and Ibert. In addition to solo concertos, the program also includes individual movements from concertos in which the flute is paired with other solo instruments: Cimarosa’s Concerto for Flute and Oboe, Mozart’s Concerto for Flute and Harp, and J. S. Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 5.
Zsófia Biró’s partners are András Zászkaliczky (oboe), Réka Kerényi (violin), Nikoletta Mericske (harp), and Róza Bene (harpsichord). The Szent István Philharmonic Orchestra is conducted by Levente Zsiros, who won second prize at the Erich Bergel International Conducting Competition in 2022. Both the outstanding flautist and the young conductor grew up within the “István musical workshop.” The program is further enriched by ballet performances featuring enchanting excerpts from Gluck’s Orfeo and Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker, performed by young dancers from the Hungarian Dance University. The editor and host of the evening is Emőke Solymosi Tari.
