Part of the programme of the 97th Festive Book Week
The distinguished guest and opening speaker of the 97th Festive Book Week is David Szalay, who was awarded the prestigious Booker Prize in 2025 for his novel Flesh. The author will be in conversation with the book’s Hungarian translator, András Barabás. The English-language discussion will be interpreted for the audience.
Szalay’s Booker Prize–winning novel examines the fundamental questions of human existence with a cool, detached clarity: do things simply happen to us, or do we shape our own fate? What gives meaning to our lives? And is there anything we can do when everything falls apart?
The event is free of charge, but registration is required.
Following the discussion, the author will be signing copies from 6:00 pm at Vörösmarty square, at Stand No. 32 of Libri Könyvkiadó.
