Event of the 13th Open House - Festive Day of Arts
Balázs Szabó is a truly versatile artist: a singer, songwriter, puppeteer, and storyteller. He has written and directed theatrical pieces and occasionally appears in street theatre performances as well. In 2009, he founded his own band, Szabó Balázs Bandája, which has become a distinctive presence in the Hungarian popular music scene thanks to its unique musical and lyrical style. The Fonogram Award-winning band has achieved great success in recent years with its richly textured songs that move effortlessly between genres. Their latest album, Keringés, was released at the end of 2024.
At the Pesti Vigadó, Balázs Szabó will perform a solo concert, featuring primarily his own compositions, alongside a few musical settings of poems. His best-known songs include Hétköznapi and Zaj, as well as Bájoló, a musical adaptation of a poem by Miklós Radnóti.
At this special event, the audience can experience his songs as they were originally created: in the intimate, quiet atmosphere of a room, accompanied by a single guitar.
