Part of the MVM Classic&Club Series
Within the historic walls of the Ceremonial Hall at the Pesti Vigadó, the discipline of classical music and the virtuosity of the café music tradition come together in an inseparable and noble union.
This special event in the MVM Classic&Club series is more than a concert: it is a journey into the deepest layers of the Hungarian musical spirit, bringing together the world-renowned soprano Erika Miklósa, the improvisational brilliance of the Sárközy Collective, and one of the most sought-after violinists on the international stage, Barnabás Kelemen.
Throughout the evening, Erika Miklósa guides the audience from the celestial heights of opera arias through the sparkling world of operetta to the intimate realm of chanson. In a musical dialogue between the two soloists, the raw power of Bartók’s duos is set against the captivating charm of the fin-de-siècle atmosphere evoked by the works of Fritz Kreisler.
The concert also offers a fresh perspective on Kreisler’s music and on Tzigane by Maurice Ravel, woven into the vibrant musical fabric created by Lajos Sárközy and his ensemble, who boldly explore the boundaries between Gypsy music, jazz and classical traditions.
The programme concludes with selected Hungarian Dances by Johannes Brahms and the exhilarating Kállai Kettős. In the grand finale, all performers join forces to celebrate the triumph of music-making for sheer joy—a memorable musical festivity where tradition and contemporary energy complement one another in perfect harmony.
