Vigadó Jazz Club – December concert
“The magic of the musical world of Miklós Lukács and his Cimbiózis Trio lies in the fact that it denies the listener the naïve pleasure of genre labeling.”
— Gergely Fazekas, music historian
Cimbalom virtuoso Miklós Lukács is undoubtedly one of the most exceptional figures in both the Hungarian and international music scenes. His classical training has enabled him to explore jazz and contemporary music in depth. His virtuosic playing style and constant experimentation have led to the discovery of previously unheard sounds on his instrument.
A prime example of this is the Cimbiózis Trio, founded in 2013 and still performing with its original lineup: György Orbán (double bass) and István Baló (drums). Over the years, the trio has become one of the most original formations in Hungarian jazz. Beyond their unique instrumentation and ever-expanding repertoire of original compositions, their openness to experimentation and willingness to explore new musical directions have been key to their success.
“I composed for this trio with the intention of creating a chamber-like sound, where each musician has an equal role. That’s why I chose the name Cimbiózis: the symbiosis between us is essential.”
— Miklós Lukács
