Yuya Mizuno was born in 1998, and graduated from the Toho Gakuen School of Music, where his professor was Sumiko Kurata, in 2019. He now studies at the Liszt Academy, with Miklós Perényi.

In 2015 he won the first prize, as well as the audience award, of the 13th Tokyo Music Competition. In 2017 he was the youngest contestant at the Queen Elisabeth Competition, and most recently he took part at the 16th International Tchaikovsky Competition.
As a soloist, he has performed in several of Japan’s concert halls, playing with orchestras like the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. Alongside standard works of the cello literature, his concert at Pesti Vigadó will include a work each by two Japanese composers: Hisatada Otaka and Takashi Kurata, who were active in the middle of the 20th century. His partner will be Souhei Yamagami, who studies for his master’s degree at the Liszt Academy, where his mentor is András Kemenes.
