Exhibition of Current Hungarian Painting in Pesti Vigadó

18th October celebrates the patron saint of painters, St. Luke. Painting, one of the most ancient spiritual activities of man, is still alive. Painting enriches, questions, evokes, stirs, soothes, illustrates, depicts and tells stories: painting carries everything that is the most essential to human consciousness. Launched more than two decades ago, the annually organised event entitled the “Day of Hungarian Painting” has become one of the most recognised series of artistic events of the Hungarian cultural arena, with the “Exhibition of Current Hungarian Painting” in its focus.

For over a month, splendid exhibition halls in Pesti Vigadó’s building will be staging artworks by three generations of contemporary Hungarian painters, thereby providing a broad overview of today’s artistic trends in Hungary. This showcasing will be enriched by an exhibition of glass painting and an exhibition of works by the curators of the Day of Hungarian Painting Foundation. At the opening ceremony, three professional awards will be presented: these are supported by the Hungarian Ministry of Culture and Innovation, and the Hungarian Academy of Arts.

Curators of the exhibition: painter Dániel Horváth, painter József Gaál, painter György Verebes, silicate artist and restorer László Czifrák, and painter László Hudatsek.

Organiser: Day of Hungarian Painting Foundation.
