In Member of the Hungarian Academy of Arts László Székely’s views, stage design is in fact Gesamtkunst, i.e. a creative mode of existence dedicated to total arts. This Gesamtkunst includes sculpture, painting and architecture. Probably, instead of the term ‘stage designer’ the name ‘creative spatial designer’ should be used to name a person who uses the spatial features of a stage for setting and reproducing a drama.

During his professional career, László Székely has never been interested simply in objects but in the spatial relations of objects. In his understanding, professional knowledge can be measured in terms of how the creative specialist can engage the objects in interaction with space.
